“Developing a new system for housing that fits all community needs”

The Housing Research Collaborative is a community of housing researchers, developers and policy makers who are focused on understanding impediments in the housing system and the developing of models to address housing affordability. Housing for Canada’s population has reached a crisis, and the need to re-conceptualize the housing delivery system to make it more equitable and secure for people from all walks of life is significant. While the path forward is unclear, the Housing Research Collaborative has set out to identify potential strategies to establish an improved housing system in Canada.

By conducting evidence-based research that fills gaps in important data, and linking organizations and their needs with specific researchers, this collaborative is drilling down on how municipalities not only deliver housing, but deliver housing to match those in need (Indigenous, homeless, low income, etc.). An interest in housing issues continues to grow, and this collaborative is helping to increase public involvement and understanding around this issue.
